摩天楼オペラ 「Gloria」 / Matenrou Opera

摩天楼オペラ have very recently come out with a new single called Gloria. I will be purchasing this single along with a couple others and I shall be doing a review on this CD once it has come. (In this way I'm able to listen to the songs from the CD instead of already have listened to them from Youtube. I will give a quick review of the title song since I have listened to it and have fallen in love with the song and video that goes with it.

Therefore, let the review of Gloria begin!



It starts with a quick guitar riff and then the rest of the band jumps in. The song keep the tempo up throughout, but doesn't make it 'poppy.' Like, the song is still quite rockish and sounds sophisticated as well. They are just that good. I don't think many bands are able to keep the sophisticatedness in their songs while still being pop/rock. Either way the video is quite confusing in a sense and doesn't really seem to go with the lyrics. Even so, there is probably a deeper meaning than what I am able to find with the little bit of Japanese that I have.

The two guys in the beginning pushing hospital beds with the 5 members strapped onto them seems straight enough (they ended up in the hospital for some reason.) Then, they show bar-codes on their necks just under their jawline, and the said guys start sticking needles into them as well. As the song progresses we switch between clips of them waking up on the beds and the whole band playing the song with Sono (苑) singing. I've heard speculation that the members strapped to the hospital beds are clones, and that does seem possible, but again I feel the need to find the lyrics to be able to fully appreciate the video and message they are trying to send through it.
Ayame (彩雨)'s duet with Anzi is one of their best duets so far with Yu (癒) in the background keeping time I love it! :D

Well now, there is only one version of Gloria and it does not have the PV attached to it... I wonder what they are doing.... ?? Well either way, awesome title song and I hope the rest of the songs are as good as this one is. I can't wait to buy it along with a couple other CD's!!!! :-D
